Week 3 Psych 409 101315 Shared meaning is glue that holds society together This work was initially done in the 80 s not a new concept What direction has society gone 0 30 40 s work together and patriotism and now we are more divided east south west 0 Social networking can be very negative because everyone else is doing it Everything was paradox 0 So many contradictions 0 Goal of dialogue is to express opinions I Then he says opinions don t matter Its not that opinions don t matter its that we need to allow our level of consciousness to get to a state where they don t HAVE TO MATTER I This is not an assumption because you need to allow yourself to re ect on each other s opinions not focusing on your own You need to be able to get everything out First aspect of dialogue is EQUALITY You have to experience something that emerges from dialogue and understand each others perspective Culture is the trellis upon which souls growquot Reading can make you defensive because the ideas are so new to some 0 Trying to suspend you opinions 0 Opinions are assumptions but opinions can also be ideas This is where it gets confusing I Don t look at it as just right wrong It is more profound to see if you observe what Bohm describes in his book Shared meaning Don t need a leader you can find a meaning without one Don t throw away your opinions they are there for a reason 0 We are trying to understand why we interact with others the way we do Creativity occurs in the center of the circle shown at right Quieter people have a difficult time thinking of what to say until it is too late and they don t want to drag everyone back so that they can state their piece Extroverts will overbear the introverts every single time if you let them Some aren t as fast at processing as others which can also negatively affect the extroverts Extroverts get yourself out of the o o conversation and see what happens Introverts can be self confidence issue 101515 Silence can teach us something 0 It is very important 0 Can be uncomfortable but we need to get to a point where it is comfortable 0 Those that begin to make lists and organize their life with the dead time they are given are considered to be intuitive Zen Koan Everyone was being silent because everyone else was too 0 Tends to be a social norm We then played a bunch of games that don t really have notes so today s is pretty small
