Vicon MX Motion capture system The following is a basic outline for setting up and running a capture session Steps are broken down into speci c areas as de ned by the application interface This Handout only outlines the process up until running an actual capture session If the cameras have been moved at all a more extensive set and calibration process will need to done The Post process will be explained in another handout First create a folder on the E drive for your capture Then open ViconIQ Browse to nd your folder A Data management B Setup C Calibration D Capture E Post Process Eclipse gt New Database A Data management Create new project Create new capture day Create new session B Setup top menu NOTE Tarsus must be connected If not Click on Modeling top menu then back on Setup top menu and click on the double red arrows at the bottom of the screen This should start Tarsus If this does not browse to CProgram FilesViconVICONiQ 20Tarsus and nd Tarsusexe then Click on Modeling top menu then back on Setup top menu and click on the double red arrows at the bottom of the screen Hardware con guration right menu Steps If any of the 12 cameras don t show up Check connections If connections are good but a camera still does not show up Then click NONE to release current camera list Then pick Vicon MX and wait for camera to be reassigned Green means camera is connected and ready Blue camera is the temporary origin and will be the sync camera for tick cycles This is also were you can set the frame rate for the session it can be changed at any point during the session A minimum of 60 and 120 or higher is best for fast action C Calibration top menu Calibration right menu Steps 1 Pick Camera view Shift click to select all cameras 240 mm wand Click start wand wave Move wand around volume Direct wand waver to cameras with values below 500 1000 is best When values are met click stop wand Wait for 25 minutes for calculations 2 Position Ergoi9mm7Lframe in center of volume Select live 3D workspace Click track lframe Then click set origin cameras should reorient to L frame 3 Randomly place markers around the volume Select calibrate oor plane Record for 23 seconds Click stop Markers should snap to oor Clean up markers from oor 4 Calibration health check only needed to verify that calibration is still valid D Capture See marker handout sheet to set markers on actor Capture top menu Capture right menu Steps Name Trial Pick trial type Click Start Range of motion test for actor Tpose Role hands Role Head Role arms Role trunk Left leg wave Left foot Right leg wave Right foot Tpose Click Stop Save threshold data This only needed for first trial of first capture session At this point you can do multiple trials by simply changing the Trial Name and Trial type if needed It is best to have the actors start and end each session in the TPose It is not required but can help the system run cleaner when doing a post process Frame rate can be changed under SETUP top menu HARDWARE CONFIG right menu
