October 1 2009 Finish synthetic materials Resins Fiberglass Safety problems require proper ventilation etc Thermal plastics Durable easily painted easy to work with Celastic 7 bad juju 7 looked like heavy grade cardboardposter board 7 really was felt with plastic and chemical shit 7 dipped in acetone it makes it pliable and easy to work with 7 acetone is toxic Two part pour foams Polyurethane pour foam 7 mix two liquids together and it makes foam Usually used for props Spray foam 7 Great Stuff 7 expanding foam Use chemicals and fun stuff Denatured alcohol thinners varnish shellac each of these has health risks 7 always read the can before you use things Adhesives casein glues 7 elmer s wood glue mostly nontoxic we use the white and yellow glues 7 wood glue formulated to work better with wood use white glue with muslin andor other fabrics and can be thinned with water Clean up glue runs before it dries so thinks fit right and it doesn t look like shit Contact cement adhesive with foams 7 usually glue 2 layers of foam together to get to the desired thickness 7 roll cement on both surfaces then let them completely dry and put them together Hot melt and cold melt glue 7 hot glue Woo Other adhesives 7 latex 7 binder 7 used in paints Clear latex as a sealer instead of polyurethane Always check what the base is such as water based sealers etc Gel latex 7 sculpticoat 7 you can sculpt with it and protect styrofoam not so bad toxicitywise Can mix latex paint with the white glue 7 giant paper mache Use drywall mud mixed with white glue so it doesn t ake off and it adheres better
