Working with a Professional on Residential Interior Design There are several reasons why you should consider working with a professional on residential interior design. Interior designers have the experience and training necessary for quality interior design. They have the necessary contacts to get you the best materials and supplies. Interior design can be time and energy consuming and it could interfere with your work/business and even your social life. Hiring an interior designer takes care of this problem. You should, however, not go for the first interior designer you come across. Get your interior designer from a design studio which works with such notable designers as Philippe Starck, Jade Jagger, Kelly Hoppen, Marcel Wanders andAnouska Hempel. The design studio should offer comprehensive service if you are to get value for money. This means that, other than interior design, it should also offer architecture services, branding and marketing. Go for a design studio that has been in operation for several years in different countries since such a studio will have learnt from its mistakes and successes. Consider the number of residences the design studio has helped design.Agood design studio will give you its portfolio readily. Call past clients for an overview of how the designers are. Consider the training of the design team. The team should have trained in accredited institutions and should be members of the relevant industry bodies, but do not ignore experience. Do not let cost considerations blind you from picking the right team for residential interior design. As the old adage goes, 'cheap is expensive'. Go for a design studio that lays emphasis on uniqueness and creativity. Ensure that the designers give you a time line that is agreeable. The time lines, milestones and deadlines should be accompanied by penalties, should either party fail to fulfil its end of the bargain. Supervise the design team throughout the interior design. You should know exactly what you need so that you can adequately supervise the job. Do not shy away from asking for a repeat job if there is something you do not agree with. You should, however, give the design team sufficient freedom if you want a good job. Note that it is difficult to fully appreciate the job until the job is all done. You should make a budget and stick to it, but your budget must allow space for emergency expenses. Ask the residential interior design team for tips on such things as accessories, artwork and furniture should you choose to add to the décor later on.
