Sun exposure is the number one cause of wrinkles and premature aging. If you care about the way your skin looks you must make it a habit to wear sunscreen every single time you go outside. The sun's rays can damage your skin even on cloudy or overcast days; so for the ultimate skin protection, wear sunscreen no matter what the weather is like. Many people make the mistake of only wearing sunscreen during summer months. You should wear sunscreen during all seasons, winter and fall included. A sunscreen with a good SPF (Sun Protection Factor) will prevent both wrinkles and age spots, not to mention that it greatly reduces your risk of getting skin cancer. Remember to apply sunscreen to every part of your body that is exposed to the sun. Wearing sunscreen on your hands will prevent you from developing the unsightly brown age spots that are so common in older people. Drinking plenty of pure water is one of the best things you can do for the health and appearance of your skin. Your skin, like every other party of your body, is made up of cells. When skin cells become dehydrated, your skin begins to become dry and flaky. Dry skin is prone to wrinkles. Drinking eight glasses of water per day will keep your body properly hydrated and allow your skin to maintain proper moisture levels. Hydrated skin looks and feels younger than dehydrated skin, so grab a glass of water and drink up! If your the appearance of your skin is important to you, do not be afraid to schedule an appointment with a dermatologist. Ask your dermatologist about chemical peels and microdermabrasion. Light chemical peels can help to keep your skin looking clear and wrinkle free, and have little to no down time. Consider getting a peel once a month to keep your skin looking great. Microdermabrasion treatments can also keep your skin looking young and healthy. These treatments are virtually pain free, however you may feel a mild stinging sensation. There is no down time for these procedures, so you can get a treatment during your lunch break and go right back to work. Remember to take off your makeup every night before you go to bed. Your skin needs a chance to rest and breathe. Wearing makeup 24 hours a day can eventually irritate your skin and cause clogged pores and breakouts.
