What to Look for in an Estate Agent An estate agent helps individuals sell their property at the right price. Their expert opinion and experience play a huge part in ensuring a sale goes through successfully. Because there are hundreds of agents in the market, choosing the right one can be testing. What follows are some of the things you should look for in an agent. Cost is the first thing you should look at. While some agents charge a percentage, others ask for a fixed price. Before hiring an agent, ask about the standard rates as well as additional costs. Ask for quotations from three or four agents and make comparisons. Only settle for one with a reasonable price. You should also look at the agent’s experience. You need to be sure how many units the individual has been able to successfully sell in the past as well as the number of clients he/she has dealt with. It is advisable to choose an agent with considerable experience as you can be sure they are knowledgeable about the field of real estate. Trust your gut instincts. Stay away from agents that give you an uneasy feeling. Only settle for one you trust and feel comfortable with. A good agent is one that will be able to effectively market your property and reach a considerable number or potential buyers. Accordingly, before hiring an estate agent, request to go along when they go to show a property. This will give you an idea of their marketing skills. Also, take the time to look at advertisements they have created in the past. This will help you determine if they are right for you. Be sure to ask the agent for recommendations. By having a chat with the agent’s previous clients, you will be able to know if you are making the right decision hiring that particular agent. Stay away from agents that refuse to provide contact details of people they have served before as it means they are hiding something. Getting the ideal estate agent can be tricky. This is why you should not rush through the process of selecting one. There are several things that should be taken into consideration when hiring an agent. These include cost, experience, marketing skills and recommendations. You should only hire an agent that is not only experienced but that also charges practical prices. He/ she ought to have excellent marketing skills in addition to outstanding recommendations. Stay away from agents that make you uncomfortable.
