I have an love and hate relationship with this school. There are things that make it's amazing such as the location and people but there are things that truly suck like the food and some of the TAs. There's hardly anyone here over the weekend and no one really attends any of the events which makes it boring. I thought about transferring alot. The technology departmentI don't know about the othersis extremely underfunded. The laboratories are ancient and outdated. The electronics labs don't even have wires. Or IC's. Or anything else you could possibly need. Bring your own equipment. ...Continue reading

They don't call this school Hardy High for nothing. I think that this school would have a better social atmosphere if there was less emphasis on the Greeks. If you do not plan on going Greek, this school is not for you. While I have semi-enjoyed my time here, I will be transferring to a more credible institution in the fall. By the way, the food sucks. ...Continue reading

Southern was not my first choice but is an easy 1-hour commute 2-3 days a week. The Fresh is a no go unless you have no other choice. You can easily walk the campus' width in 10 mins tops. Hattiesburg only has a few good places in terms of entertainment. And the Greek life can be pretty unwelcoming unless you're already a part of it. ...Continue reading

the food gets superrrr old!!! not much to do here at all! kind of boring if your not greek life. Each professor comes up with their own grading scale but it should be universal. Almost every class I took this year was taught by a new professor who was just figuring out how to teach it. My professors never had a real job in their lives besides teaching so they have no real experience. i did not like it all. it's overpriced for the lack of quality. and i honestly felt like i was being cheated out of an education. the school itself is in a horrible location (right off the highway) and it looks extremely dirty. ...Continue reading

I'm so glad I ended up at USM. The school is the only D1 urban campus in the state. If you love the urban/school life then this is the place. The campus has fantastic SEC level traditions including the eagle walk, thousands cheering To The Top after every 1st down, and the pride is one of the best hands down. The staff is great but the parking is terrible! USM is awesome, Smaller setting, more 1 on 1. ...Continue reading

It's a wonderful campus, with great students and teachers. Everyone is super helpful and nice. All of my professors make sure that we're coming out of their class knowing everything we need to go into our majors. The only thing I have a problem with is the Fresh. They could honestly do better. Other than that, the school is great!!! Loved it! ...Continue reading

This is a great school and it has a lot of great opportunities. Our Mass Comm. /Journalism Dept. is very good. The same goes for Polymer Science being one of the leaders in the US, along with Business and Arts. Compared to UCF and other schools, you're a person and not a number. But I would say Greek life thinks they own USM, the same with SGA. ...Continue reading

Dr. Smith is an absolute gem. She makes her lectures interesting, and she's fun to listen to because of her personality. She really knows her stuff!
