(choose chapter or problem)

A war-wolf or trebuchet is a device used during the MiddleAges to throw rocks at castles and now sometimesused to fling large vegetables and pianos as a sport. Asimple trebuchet is shown in Figure P10.47. Model itas a stiff rod of negligible mass, 3.00 m long, joiningparticles of mass m1 5 0.120 kg and m2 5 60.0 kg at itsends. It can turn on a frictionless, horizontal axle perpendicularto the rod and 14.0 cm from the large-massparticle. The operator releases the trebuchet from restin a horizontal orientation. (a) Find the maximumspeed that the small-mass object attains. (b) While thesmall-mass object is gaining speed, does it move withconstant acceleration? (c) Does it move with constanttangential acceleration? (d) Does the trebuchet movewith constant angular acceleration? (e) Does it haveconstant momentum? (f) Does the trebuchetEarthsystem have constant mechanical energy?
