This obligation is what he or she has accepted when they took that positional oath to act as previously stated. 3) If a manager fails to maximize profit then that manager is failing to complete their given job at maximum efficiency and should then be evaluated by those that hired the manager. In this case however I must use the term evaluated loosely because it is understood that this would only occur in a perfect case scenario and companies can allow for acceptable loses. These acceptable loses do have real money loses though and they come from the pockets of the stockholders, employees of the firm, and/or the customers of the firm.
