Tracking the placebo effect. The placebo effect is particularly strong inpatients with Parkinsons disease. To understand the workings of the placeboeffect, scientists measure activity at a key point in the brain when patients receivea placebo that they think is an active drug and also when no treatment is given.4The response variable is the difference in brain activity, placebo minus notreatment. Does the placebo reduce activity on the average? State clearly what the parameter is for this matched pairs setting. Then state H0 and Ha for thesignificance test.
