QUESTION:

Using the same first two classes from Exercise 1, identify the class boundaries of the first class.

ANSWER:

Answer :

Step 1 of 2 :

Given,  When one is constructing a table representing the frequency distribution of weights (lb) of discarded textile items from Data Set 23, the first two classes of a frequency distribution are 0.00–0.99 and 1.00–1.99

The claim is to find the class boundaries and the class width

0.00 is the upper class limit and unit of measurement is 0.99

Therefore ,  For first class

Upper class boundary = Upper limit + ()  unit of measurement

Upper class boundary = 0.99 + ()  0.01

                                    = 0.995

Lower class boundary = Lower limit + ()  unit of measurement

  Upper class boundary = 0.0 + ()  0.01

                                    = 0.005

 For second class

Upper class boundary = 1.99 + ()  0.01

                                    = 1.995

  Upper class boundary = 1.0 + ()  0.01

                                    = 1.005
