From the given boxplot, we can say that if the difference is positive then text messages are more than the calls. And we know that the central box of a boxplot is drawn from the first quartile to the third quartile. So, only 25%  difference is below 0 and 75% of the difference is above 0, which supports the article’s conclusion.
