We covered a lot of motivation theories and approaches on Friday. You need to know what each theory is and how each is distinguished from the others to do well on the MOD exam. The custom text covers these theories in more detail than I did in lecture. I put the theories into "buckets" to make them easier to understand and distinguish. Within each bucket you will see similar themes among the theories because they rely on the same underlying principle—like all reward theories involve receiving rewards following a desired behavior. For example, Theory X and Behavior Modification focus on rewards and punishments to shape employee behavior.
