A 0.5-in layer of boiler scale has accumulated on a 6.0-ft section of hot water pipe with an internal diameter of 2.0 in (see the Chemistry in Action essay on p. 126). What is the minimum volume of muriatic acid in gallons that would be needed to remove the boiler scale?
