(b) Sodium thiosulfate is used to remove excess \(\mathrm{Cl}_{2}\) from chlorine-bleached fabrics. The thiosulfate ion forms \(\mathrm{SO}_{4}^{2-}\) and elemental sulfur, while \(\mathrm{Cl}_{2}\) is reduced to \(\mathrm{Cl}^{-}\).
