Newton's Third Law and Force Pairs: System of Interest Impact
Chapter 27, Problem 45(choose chapter or problem)
A Ferrari with a mass of 1400 kg approaches a freeway underpass that is 10 m across.
At what speed must the car be moving, in order for it to have a wavelength such that it might somehow "diffract" after passing through this "single slit"?
How do these conditions compare to normal freeway speeds of 30 m/s?

QUESTION:
A Ferrari with a mass of 1400 kg approaches a freeway underpass that is 10 m across.
At what speed must the car be moving, in order for it to have a wavelength such that it might somehow "diffract" after passing through this "single slit"?
How do these conditions compare to normal freeway speeds of 30 m/s?
ANSWER:Step 1 of 2
The mass of Ferrari is \(m=1400 \mathrm{~kg}\).
The width across underpass is \(d=10 \mathrm{~m}\).
The underpass of the car should be treated as single slit experiment therefore the width across underpass is equal to the wavelength of light which is \(\lambda=10 \mathrm{~m}\).
The de Broglie wavelength can be given as,
\(\lambda=\frac{h}{m v}\)
