ANSWER:

Answer : Step 1 : Given In a famous experiment carried out in 1882, Michelson and Newcomb obtained 66 observations on the time it took for light to travel between two locations in Washington, D.C. A few of the measurements (coded in a certain manner) were 31, 23, 32, 36, 22, 26, 27, and 31. a). Here experiment was conducted to study the time taken for light to travel from one place to another place. From the given problem obtained 66 observations are obtained. Since the experiment conducted in different times, the density of the material changes with temperature/environmental conditions which may result the difference in measurement. So possibly measurement error, recording error, differences in environmental conditions at the time of measurement, etc.
