CH3CH2 -OH+ CH3-Li CH3CH2O- Li+ +CH4

One mole of ethyl alcohol reacts with methyllithium to give lithium ethoxide and methane

Step 2</p>

The conjugate acid of methyl lithium is methane molecule.

Methyllithium reacts with water to yield conjugate base lithium hydroxide that is LiOH.and conjugate acid is methane .which is very weak acid methyl lithium and all organolithium compounds are  very strong bases.
