Solution:

  Carbon has 4 valence electrons which allows it to pair with 4 Bromine atoms each having a charge of -1.  The charge of  carbon atom can either be 4+ or 4-.  A C4- ion will pair with 4 Br atoms by taking their valence electrons, bringing the net charge to zero.

The chemical formula for the compound containing one carbon atom for every four bromine atoms is   CBr4.

This element is called carbon tetrabromide.
