The beam is made from southern pine and is supported by base plates resting on brick work. If the allowable bearing stresses for the materials are \(\left(\sigma_{\text {pine }}\right)_{\text {allow }}=2.81 \ \mathrm{ksi}\) and \(\left(\sigma_{\text {brick }}\right)_{\text {allow }}=6.70 \ \mathrm{ksi}\), determine the required length of the base plates at A and B to the nearest \(\frac{1}{4}\) inch in order to support the load shown. The plates are 3 in. wide.
