The principal strains in a plane, measured experimentally

Chapter 10, Problem 10-46

(choose chapter or problem)

The principal strains in a plane, measured experimentally at a point on the aluminum fuselage of a jet aircraft, are \(\epsilon_{1}=630\left(10^{-6}\right) \text { and } \epsilon_{2}=350\left(10^{-6}\right)\). If this is a case of plane stress, determine the associated principal stresses at the point in the same plane. \(E_{\mathrm{al}}=10\left(10^{3}\right) \mathrm{ksi}\) and \(\nu_{\mathrm{al}}=0.33\).
