Majority of the elements created in nature are regarded to be metals. Metals possess a shiny appearance unlike non-metals. Metalloids show the characteristics of metals together with non-metals.

The metals in the periodic table are categorized into metals, nonmetals and metalloids based on their characteristic properties. Metals are generally found on the left part of the periodic table. Non-metals are located at the right part of the periodic table. Metalloids are located in between the metals and the non-metals.
