Problem 20Q

PROBLEM 20Q

Explain how ice cubes cool down beverages.

Step-by-Step Solution:
Step 1 of 3

Solution 20Q

Ice cubes cool down beverages because of transfer of heat energy from beverages to ice. The heat energy from the beverages melts the ice until a state of equilibrium is reached. i.e, the transfer of heat from beverages to ice, melts down the ice slowly and ice turns into water. When all the ice has melted, the beverage has a uniform temperature. This is how ice cools down beverages.
