Practice Exercise 2

Calculating the Effect of a Common Ion on Solubility

Calculate the molar solubility of CaF2 at 25 °C in a solution that is

(a) 0.010 M in Ca(NO3)2 and, (b) 0.010 M in NaF.

For manganese(II) hydroxide, Mn(OH)2, Ksp = 1.6 × 10-13. Calculate the molar solubility of Mn(OH)2 in a solution that contains 0.020 M NaOH.
