Starch and cellulose both are complex carbohydrates. 

Starch Cellulose
  • Starch is the energy storage medium for plants.

  • Starch is composed of two polysaccharides such as amylose and amylopectin. Amylose and amylopectin are made up of glucose units bonded together via \(\alpha\) - glycosidic linkages. 

  • Cellulose is the structural unit of  plants.

  • Cellulose consists of glucose units bonded together via \(\beta\) - glycosidic linkages.
