Treatment of ethynylcyclohexane with an organoboron compound gives an alkenyl-organoboron compound.

Now, the alkenyl-organoboron compound is reacted with an alkenyl halide in the presence of palladium catalyst gives the desired product. Thus, this reaction is known as Suzuki reaction.
