Problem 43E

Why do airplanes normally take off facing the wind?

Step-by-Step Solution:
Step 1 of 3

At the when airplane take off,the air bearing down on the plane generates an upward force on the wings, which helps to lift the aircraft.pilot likes to take off into a headwind because which helps them to achieve wheels-up faster.planes have flaps on their wings they can extend to push more air down.lift and drag vary with the square of your speed,so if a plane goes twice as fast, relative to the oncoming air, its wings produce four times as much lift. Or In the case of plane to generate lift, air need to pass over and under the wing. Planes can do this simply by moving forward but, when wind is present, it is best to take off into the wind because this will help the lift of the aircraft.
