QUESTION:

Does the medium in which a wave travels move with the wave? Give examples to support your answer.

ANSWER:

Solution 10RQ Step 1: A wave is a mode of transfer of energy from one place to another. Usually a wave requires a medium to travel. But, electromagnetic waves do not need any medium for its propagation. In general cases, the energy of the wave will travel through the medium from one point to another. During its motion, only energy is getting transferred. In fact, the medium remains as same, but, the disturbances or shocks inside the medium as energy will propagate throughout the medium. Ripple in water is an example of the wave.
