QUESTION:

Transformers

Why does a transformer require ac?

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 3

The magnetic field is accumulated when the current is flown through the primary coil. This leads to a change in magnetic fields, and according to electromagnetic induction and Faraday's law, this induces a voltage in the secondary coil. This induction of voltage is there as long as there is a change in the magnetic field through the primary coil.
