This mechanical waves can be classified into two types; namely, transverse waves and longitudinal waves. In longitudinal waves , the vibrations are parallel to the direction of wave propagation. Whereas transverse waves are the waves, in which the vibrations are perpendicular to the direction of wave propagation.
