Problem 13RQ

In what direction are the vibrations relative to the direction of wave travel in a longitudinal wave?

Step-by-Step Solution:

Solution 13RQ Step 1 of 2 : Waves are disturbance through a medium. There are two types of waves; mechanical and non-mechanical waves.Mechanical waves are the waves which require material medium for wave propagation. This mechanical waves can be classified into two types; namely, transverse waves and longitudinal waves. In longitudinal waves , the vibrations are parallel to the direction of wave propagation. Whereas transverse waves are the waves, in which the vibrations are perpendicular to the direction of wave propagation.
