How does Newton’s first law of motion relate to Galileo’s concept of inertia?

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 2

Galileo through his experiment found that a ball in a downward slope will pick up speed and in an upward slope will have its speed reduced. However, when a ball is moving in a horizontal plane it should ideally remain in motion and the ball stops not due to its nature but due to the resistance acted upon it.
