QUESTION:

A ball rolling along a floor doesn’t continue rolling indefinitely. Is this because it is seeking a place of rest or because some force is acting upon it? If the latter, identify the force.

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 2

While the objects are moving, there are always the forces which act in the opposite direction from the moving direction if objects are not in a vacuum. These forces resist the motion of the object and are known as air resistance and friction force.
