QUESTION:

Problem 27P

(I) What is the range of wavelengths for (a) FM radio (88MHzto 108 MHz) and (b) AM radio (535 KHz to 1700 KHz)?

ANSWER:

Solution 27P

Speed of light = 3*108 m/s

Wavelength = c/f where c is speed of light and f is frequency

Step 1 of 2

  1. FM radio

1 = 3*108 m/s / 88 * 106 Hz = 3.41 m

2 = 3*108 m/s / 108 * 106 Hz = 2.78 m

So wavelength range for FM radio is 2.78 - 3.41 m
