Problem 39E

Two safety pins, identical except that one is latched and one is unlatched, are placed in identical acid baths. After the pins are dissolved, what, if anything, is different about the two acid baths?

Step-by-Step Solution:

Solution 39E Step 1 : If the both the acid baths are placed in same frame of reference there should be no difference in the acid bath But if one of the acid bath is placed inertial frame of reference and the other is placed in non inertial frame of references The pins in acid bath depending upon their frame of references will have slow reaction compared to the other . The acid bath in non inertial frame will have dilated time for the reaction to complete hence it wouldn't have dissolved the pin at the same time as the acid bath in the inertial frame.
