Solution 1E Introduction The principle of relativity looks for whether all laws of Physics are applicable or admissible in all frames of references. If a new theory or law is developed, we can check its admissibility by using the principle of relativity and it should be valid in all frames of reference. Step 1 There are two branches for the principle of relativity. They are, general theory of relativity and special theory of relativity. Both these branches are developed by Albert Einstein. There is a difference in the reference frame for general theory of relativity and special theory of relativity. The frame of reference in special theory of relativity is having constant velocity. The maximum velocity with which a particle can travel is “c”, which is nothing but the speed of light. So, there will not be any acceleration and hence no force. So, the reference frames in special theory of relativity is considered as “inertial frames of references”. The reference frame in general theory of relativity may be inertial or non-inertial. That is, the velocity may change and which will cause an acceleration of frames and sometimes it may not be accelerating too. So, acceleration and force may exist in the frames of references of general relativity. This is the difference between the frames of references of general relativity and special relativity. Conclusion The special theory of relativity is considered as the subset of general theory of relativity since it deals with both inertial and non-inertial frames of references. And special theory of relativity can be considered as a condition of general theory of relativity when no forces are present.
