In some of Rutherford's experiments (Fig. 27-19) the  particles \(\left(\text { mass }=6.64 \times 10^{-27} \mathrm{~kg}\right)\) had a kinetic energy of \(4.8 \mathrm{MeV}\). How close could they get to the surface of a gold nucleus

\(\left(\text { radius } \approx 7.0 \times 10^{-15} \mathrm{~m}, \text { charge }=+79 e\right)\)? Ignore the recoil motion of the nucleus.
