Problem 86P

Water in a partially filled large tank is to be supplied to the roof top, which is 8 m above the water level in the tank, through a 2.5-cm-internal-diameter pipe by maintaining a constant air pressure of 300 kPa (gage) in the tank. If the head loss in the piping is 2 m of water, determine the discharge rate of the supply of water to the roof top.

ANSWER:

Solution

Step 1

Water from a large tank is to be supplied to the roof top.  the discharge rate of the supply of water to the rooftop is to be determine.By K.E correction factor and the density of water is 1000kg/m3.

By the above figure let point 1 be the partially filled large tank and point2 be the discharge rate. The fluid velocity at point 1 is low (V1=0) and at point2 it is discharge P2=Patm
