On adding 0.5 grams of hydrogen at each step the 4 grams of grams of oxygen is subsequently added at each step.It is based on hit and trial method to observe all the reading and conclude from them the ratio at every step. By observing all results we come out with the below ratio.

That  is the ratio of hydrogen to oxygen is 1:8.
