 Problem 57GP

A military jet traveling at 1500 m/s has engine trouble and the pilot must bail out. Her ejection seat shoots her forward at 300 m/s relative to the jet. According to the Lorentz velocity transformation, by how much is her velocity relative to the ground less than the 1800 m/s predicted by Galilean relativity?

Hint: Use the binomial approximation.
