A simple lie detector consists of an electric circuit, often from one finger to another. A sensitive meter shows the current chat flows when a small voltage is applied.

When people lie their skin tends to get moist from increased sweating.moist skin has a lower resistance than dry skin.as resistance of skin goes down,the current will increase which is detected by meter.

Lie detector relies on the fact that resistivity of your skin changes when you tell lie.

Example: nervousness often promotes perspiration,which reduce the resistivity of skin,as a result a greater current flows,which is indicated on meter.
