Determine the minimum required flow rate of fresh air that needs to be supplied to the lounge, and the minimum diameter of the duct if the air velocity is not to exceed 8m/s.

The minimum  fresh  air  required  for  the  smoking lounge per person is given as 30 L/s .

So the required minimum flow rate of air that need to supplied to the lounge is the product of the minimum fresh air required per person and the number of persons in the room.

Vair = Vair per person (Number of persons) 

Vair = (30 L/s)air per person (15)

Vair = 450 L/s

Vair = 0.45 m3/s
