QUESTION:

Find the area under the normal curve

a. To the right of \(z=-0.85\).

b. Between \(z=0.40\) and \(z=1.30\).

c. Between \(z=?0.30\) and \(z=0.90\).

d. Outside \(z=?1.50\) to \(z=?0.45\).

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 4:

Our goal is :

a). We need to find to the right of \(z=-0.85\).

b). We need to find between \(z=0.40\) and \(z=1.30\).

c). We need to find between \(z=-0.30\) and \(z=0.90\).

d). We need to find outside \(z=-1.50\) to \(z=-0.45\).

Now we have to find the area under the normal curve.

a). Given the area under the standard normal curve to the right of \(z=-0.85\).

\(Area=1-0.85\)

Using area under the normal curve table value.

\(Area=1-0.1977\)

\(Area=0.8023\) OR

\(P(z>0.85)= 1-P(z<0.85)\)

Using area under the normal curve table value.

\(P(z>0.85)= 1-0.1977\)

\(P(z>0.85)= 0.8023\)

Therefore the area under the standard normal curve to the right of \(z=-0.85\) is 0.8023.
