Th e quick method Th e quick method of Section 5.2 uses 1y!n as a rough estimate for the margin of error for a 95% confi dence interval for a population proportion. Th e margin of error from the quick method is actually a bit larger than needed. It diff ers most from the more accurate method of this chapter when p^ is close to 0 or 1. An SRS of 600 motorcycle registrations fi nds that 68 of the motorcycles are Harley-Davidsons. Calculate a 95% confi dence interval for the proportion of all motorcycles that are Harleys by the quick method and then by the method of this chapter.
