Chapter 24, Problem 24.57

(choose chapter or problem)

In the DRAM computer chip of 10, the cellcapacitors two conducting parallel plates are separated by a2.0-nm thick insulating material with dielectric constantK = 25. (a) Determine the area A (in /Lim2) of the cellcapacitors plates. (b) In (older) planar designs, the capacitorwas mounted on a silicon-wafer surface with its platesparallel to the plane of the wafer. Assuming the plate areaA accounts for half of the area of each cell, estimate howmany megabytes of memory can be placed on a 3.0-cm2silicon wafer with the planar design? (1 byte = 8 bits.)
