A silicon diode passes significant current only if theforward-bias voltage exceeds about 0.6 V. Make a roughestimate of the average current in the output resistor R of(a) a half-wave rectifier (Fig. 40-39), and (b ) a full-waverectifier (Fig. 40-40) without a capacitor. Assume thatR = 120 f l in each case and that the ac voltage is 9.0 V rmsin each case.
