The rubidium isotope 37Rb,a j8 emitter with a half-life of 4.75 X 1010yr, is used todetermine the age of rocks and fossils. Rocks containingfossils of ancient animals contain a ratio of 3gSr to 37Rb of0.0260. Assuming that there was no 3gSr present when therocks were formed, estimate the age of these fossils.
