Nomenclature  of hydrocarbons;

Hydrocarbons are chemicals that are solely made up of carbon and hydrogen. Alkanes are hydrocarbons that have only one carbon and hydrogen atom linked to each other. The alkanes are titled according to the number of carbon atoms they contain, followed by the suffix '-ane.' Methane (one carbon atom), ethane (two carbon atoms), propane (three carbon atoms), and butane (four carbon atoms) are the first four alkanes (with four carbon atoms). The remaining five carbon atoms are named according to the Greek prefixes such as pent, hex, hept, and so on, followed by "ane" at the end.
