Solved: Air enters the compressor of a regenerative

Chapter 9, Problem 9.64

(choose chapter or problem)

Air enters the compressor of a regenerative air-standard Brayton cycle at \(14 \mathrm{lbf} / \mathrm{in}^{2}\), \(520^{\circ} \mathrm{R}\). The compressor pressure ratio is 14 and the turbine inlet temperature is \(2500^{\circ} \mathrm{R}\). The compressor and turbine have isentropic efficiencies of 83 and 87%, respectively. The net power developed is \(5 \times 10^{6}\) Btu/h. For regenerator effectiveness values ranging from 0 to 100% plot

(a) the thermal efficiency.

(b) the percent decrease in heat addition to the air.
