Air enters the compressor of an Ericsson cycle at 300 K, 1

Chapter 9, Problem 9.100

(choose chapter or problem)

Air enters the compressor of an Ericsson cycle at 300 K, 1 bar with a mass flow rate of 5 kg/s. At the inlet to the turbine the condition is 1400 K and 10 bar. Assuming the ideal gas model and ignoring kinetic and potential energy effects, determine

(a) the net power developed, in kW.

(b) the thermal efficiency.

(c) the back work ratio.

(d) For turbine inlet temperatures of 1400 K, 1200 K, and 1000 K, plot the net power developed versus compressor pressure ratio ranging from 2 to 15.
