The volume of a 1-lb copper sphere is not allowed to vary

Chapter 11, Problem 11.54

(choose chapter or problem)

The volume of a 1-lb copper sphere is not allowed to vary by more than 0.1%. If the pressure exerted on the sphere is increased from 1 atm while the temperature remains constant at \(80^{\circ} \mathrm{F}\), determine the maximum allowed pressure, in atm. Average values of \(\rho, \beta \text {, and } \kappa \text { are } 555 \mathrm{lb} / \mathrm{ft}^{3}\), \(2.75 \times 10^{-5}\left({ }^{\circ} \mathrm{R}\right)^{-1} \text {, and } 3.72 \times 10^{-10} \mathrm{ft}^{2} / \mathrm{lbf}\), respectively.
